The bastad child of poetry (i.e. crazy, crazy, crazy)

mood: NUTS
music: Underworld- Pearls Girl
Okay this entry is random I know but this has been bugging me. And I mean it in a good way. I'm not sure which of the then trio that was Underwold wrote their lyrics, but they never make sense. I have a sneaking suspicion it was Darren Emerson. Pearls Girl is one of my fav Underworld track. The lyrics which are posted below are just nonsensical. However they vibe with the song in that distinctive Underworld way. It all conjures up imagery when I listen to it I creat music videos for this song in my head. NUTS. I am weird. Just felt like sharing.

Shrouding Every Step I take
04:00pm 10/08/2006

music: Sober - Tool
Jesus had a fucking whistle?

Anywho... Things are going well. Returning to school in about a month. Kind of looking forward to that. Wish I had a forge over there. Currently working on two swords. One of which is the sister blade to the sword I tried to make during the winter. They both came from the same piece of leaf spring. This sword is almost ready for heat treatment, hopefully it won't crack. Am currently in the rough grinding stages. If it doesn't crack I'll have a functional blade for practice in the fall. It's most likely 5160 steel, a low chromium deep hardening high/med carbon steel. The chromium content aids in hardening, which makes it harder to develop a hamon. So the blade won't have all the beautiful surface features I'd like, but it is a resilient steel and will make a very tough sword.
The second sword is still a billet. Last night I successfully completed the second stage of forge welding, the billet now has 60 layers. The billet has lost so much mass during the forge welding process, That I need to create another billet in order to fashion a blade of proper length for my height and arm length. I just received some 1018 for its core and some 1075, but am currently waiting on shipping of 1095. The 1075 and 1095 can be used to create the second billet. together the two billets will provide enough material for the edge and sides of a full length sword. Problem is, will be able to get the forging done before I go to school?... probably not. After my class ends in week in a half, I'll have more time to work on blades.

Work is getting more interesting, my math class...not so much..eh'.

On a sadder note I think we'll have to put Storm down in a week or so.

Cold Steel; a term for lethal art.

The Coldest Steels are birthed from intensely hot fires, worked at a more balanced range (for refinement's sake) just hot enought that it doesn't break under the hammer, hardened with passion and tempered with purpose.

Tommorrow I'll attempt my first forge weld. I've prepared a billet of 1095 and 1084 alternating in 12 layers. If all goes well...The billet will be forge welded into one piece and folded upon itself in series of more forge welds. I hope to accomplish this tomorrow night. This steel will be come the edge steel of the 3rd sword I'm working on. This particular billet will shaped into a long 'V'. A piece of 1045 will be inserted into the V and the composite will be welded into 1 piece in one final forge weld. The 1045 will become the core of the sword. The piece will then be drawn out and shaped with a hammer.

Forge welding is arguably the most challenging part of blacksmithing. It requires exacting heat control, care to prevent oxidation in the weld area, a lot of finesse, and absolutely no hesitation. The forge will be running hot enought to melt and burn the billet. When the time is right the hammer must fall evenly and accurately along the length of the weld. I'm looking forward to having at it.

To Storm, my German Shepherd Angel.
02:22am 14/06/2006

music: Massive Attack- Angel
This summer will probably be the last time I get to spend time with my dog of 13 years, Storm. He is suffering from a spinal degeneration which has led to partial paralysis of his hindquarters. He's a very proud dog. He carries himself like Mufasa, from the lion king. But its easy to see that he is having trouble coping with the fact that he can't walk very well, that he struggles to get up stairs. Storm has been the greatest of dogs. Incredibly loyal and loving. He was extremely protective of me as a child. I remember whenever my mom would tuck me into bed, storm would come rushing up the stairs, run into my room, jump on the bed and start cuddling with us all. He always carried himself in the most real of manners, he would trott instead of walk. He always had a very lionesque pressence about him especially in his hay-day. He was a great memeber of my family. Offering all the love he had to give all just for the occasional game of fetch. He was a michevious dog too. I remember once we caught him with all fours on the dinner table eating our pizza. Which is more funny because he is such a huge German Shepherd. This summer I'll give him as much love as I can. I know that if I end up raising a family of my own, a German Sheperd will be a part of it. To you storm and the greatness that is you!

Lay Down Your Burdens Pt.2
10:56pm 12/03/2006

music: Hey Girls Hey Boys- Chemical Brothers
K I'm back. Just starting with a random BSG post.
I will be seriously pissed if Ron Moore's gamble doesn't pay off. I he ruins BSG with this move there will be much anger. Considering I already own Season 1 and Season 2.0 on DVD I suppose I'll just hope he and his writers pull this thing off with finesse. They've done it before pray they do it again. Good luck with finals everybody.

After four knives I'm starting my sword, right now its big chunk of 5160. Took a piece of leaf spring, cut it in half (that took a whole fucking day) Smoothed out eh edges to prevent cold shuts and today finally started forming the point. This shit is made from some stubborn ass metal. God I love it. It will suck a lot if it cracks during yaki-ire.

Mystic Crystal Revelation

mood: tired
music: aquarius/Let the sun shine - The 5th Dimension
I have deduced that because crystal meth wasn't around in the sixties that "mystic Crystal Revelations" probably had something to do with LSD. My naive colombian co-worker thinks the 5th dimension is really taking about some kind of crystal ball type event. My money's on the LSD. I got a new pen. It's sweet. I know this is all pretty random but then again so am I.

music: Cups - Underworld
This one doesn't embody the Trekkiness of some of my other machinations, but I felt in its randomness It embodied some of me.

** Again we find ourselves on the Bridge of the Enterprise-D**

Riker: "So, Dianna what do you think of my goatee?"
Troy: "It's a little season three for me, but more importanlty I know what you're thinking of your goatee"
Picard: "Come now, number one, lets focus on the task at hand."
Data: "Captain, we are now within range of the Ferrengi cruiser that his been sending a distress signal."
Picard: "Open a channel. Onscreen"

** On the main view screen Q appears dressed as a Ferrengi captain **

Q: "Mon' Capitan' the Calvary has arrived just in time."
** Warf grumbles, Riker quietly wispers "shit" to himself and Picard's face turns from inquisitive to sullen**
Q: "Hit It!"

** Data begins beat-boxing, Riker nods his head to the beat and the turbo lift door opens to reveal Geordi La'Forge**
La forg: (singing) "This is how we do it!"

Picard: (singing lead)
"This is how we do it, it's Friday night
And I feel all right
The party's here on the West side
So I reach for my 40 and I turn it up
Designated driver take the keys to my truck
Hit the shore 'cause I'm faded
Honeys in the street say, "Picardy, yo we made it!"
It feels so good in my hood tonight
The summertime skirts and the guys in Kani
All the gang bangers forgot about the drive-by
You gotta get your groove on, before you go get paid
So tip up your cup and throw your hands up
And let me hear the party say"

... I'm kinda bused and its all because"

Riker and Warf in unison: "This is how we do it"

Picard: "Alpha Quadrant does it like nobody does"

Riker and Warf in unison: "This is how we do it"

Picard: "To all my neighbors you got much flava"

Riker and Warf in unison: "This is how we do it"

Picard: "Let's flip the track, bring the old school back"

Riker and Warf in unison: "This is how we do it"

Well you guys get the picture. I snapped out of this daydream and said, "what the fuck, this can't healthy"

Bitches to being home but having to work on quantum.
Snaps to warm Cali weather.

I think I frostbite parts of my hands when I was getting boxes for moving all my shit Thursday morning. Some parts of my palms and all my fingertips burn when encountering even luke warm water. I think I see some blisters starting to form. Note to self- wear gloves when it's < 10 degrees Farenheit outside and there's generous amounts of wind present. Fucking Candadian air.

Crusher: "Captain, they're not responding to our hails"

Picard: "Commander Worf, charge phaser banks and load all forward torpedo tubes, sheilds up and go to red alert"

Picard: "Number 1, what are your thoughts?"

Riker: "Well Captain, I've got a bad feeling about this one. This may seem rash but I think we should use... The Death Monkeys"

Crusher: "Captain"

Picard: "Yes, ensign Crusher?"

Crusher: "We'e recieving a message: the crew of the MormonCristlovers have politely declined our request to anal probe them and have cordially invited us to... go fuck ourselves."

Picard: "Commander Worf"
